Uninstall Deadlock Mods and Reset gameinfo.gi

Remove Deadlock mods through the Deadlock Mod Manager or by hand. Clean up gameinfo.gi, then verify the install in Steam.

When the manager installed a mod, use its remove action first. If you remove files by hand, check gameinfo.gi too. Most instructions stop at the files and skip that cleanup, and the game can keep looking in the addons folder after the files are gone. That matters when you are fixing a broken install.

Start in the Deadlock Mod Manager

Use the manager’s remove action first. It tracks the files it installed, so its records stay in sync with the files on disk. Deleting files while the mod remains listed can leave a half-installed state behind.

For a full cleanup, uninstall every mod in the manager first. Continue with the manual checks below to confirm that nothing was left behind.

Remove the remaining files by hand

  1. Close Deadlock completely. A file the running game still holds open may not delete cleanly.
  2. Delete the mod files. Remove the mod archives from your Deadlock addons folder. Delete one file to remove one mod; empty the folder to remove everything.
  3. Clean up gameinfo.gi. If you added a search-path entry for the addons folder and are removing mods permanently, remove that entry. This is easy to miss. Leaving it usually does not break anything, but a later file placed in the folder will load unexpectedly. A future comparison with Valve’s version will also show the change.
  4. Verify the install through Steam. Steam compares the installed files with Valve’s copy, restores anything that should still be there, and clears out leftovers.

Restore the default install

The manual pass above is a best effort. For certainty, these three steps return the install to its default state:

  1. Empty the addons folder.
  2. Verify the integrity of the game files through Steam.
  3. Launch Deadlock and confirm the default models are back.

Steam compares your files with Valve’s copy during step 2. It restores a modified gameinfo.gi to Valve’s version and handles the configuration cleanup.
