Where the catalog comes from
Last updated August 2026.
Everything on Skintel.gg comes from one of two places: the games' own files and GameBanana. This page says what the site takes from each, what it changes, and how to get something removed.
Official cosmetics come from the game files
Hero models, icons, and official items are extracted from the game's own data files and converted so the browser viewer can display them. Valve owns that material. Skintel.gg is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.
Community mods come from GameBanana
Mod listings are read from GameBanana's public API by a client that identifies itself and carries a contact address. Each mod page shows the author's name linked to their GameBanana profile, the submission's credit list, its license linked to the license text when it names one, and a link back to the original submission.
Downloads are not hosted here. The download button and the 1-click install links on a mod page point to gamebanana.com, so installs and download counts happen on GameBanana, where the author published the mod.
The 3D preview is built by converting a mod's files once into a browser-viewable format. The preview cannot be installed, does not contain the mod's installable files, and its links expire after a short time. Screenshots are served from a mirrored copy so that opening a page here does not pull images from GameBanana's servers.
Removing your work
A mod author who wants their work off the site can use the Report control on the item's page or write to contact@skintel.gg. Removal requests from the author are honored. The same two routes fix wrong or missing credits.
