Headshot Training Sounds — 9 Variant Pack

Replaces Deadlock's stock headshot hit sound with a clean, easy-to-identify ping designed for accuracy training. Choose from 9 carefully tuned variants — pick the one that suits your ear.

Why use this?

The default headshot sound blends with gunfire and ability VFX. When you're working on aim/headshot accuracy, you want unambiguous binary feedback: did the bullet hit the head, or not? These pings are designed to:

• Cut through the mix — mid-high frequency band (1-3 kHz) sits in the ear's most sensitive range and isn't masked by gunfire low-end
• Resist fatigue during spam fire — short attack (~2ms), brief decay (~40ms) so multiple hits don't muddy
• Stay distinct from environmental sounds — pure tonal pings the brain locks onto easily
• Avoid "novelty" / annoying sounds — no joke clips, no meme sounds, no Mario coin pings

You can install one or swap between them anytime.

Installation

Easy way (Deadlock Mod Manager): Subscribe in the Mod Manager, pick your variant from the dropdown, click Install.

Manual install:

1. Download your preferred variant ZIP
2. Extract  pak01_dir.vpk  from the ZIP
3. Rename to the next free  pak##_dir.vpk  slot in  Steam\steamapps\common\Deadlock\game\citadel\addons\  (e.g.  pak11_dir.vpk )
4. Launch Deadlock

To uninstall: delete the  pak##_dir.vpk  you placed.

Compatibility

• Works alongside QOL Lock and other HUD mods
• Conflicts with other mods that override the same headshot sound (only one can win)
• Borderless windowed AND exclusive fullscreen both work
• No effect on FPS — purely audio swap

Technical notes

Each variant overrides a single file:

sounds/mods/weapon/leveler/headshot.vsnd_c Sounds are 44.1 kHz mono 16-bit PCM, compiled via Source 2 SDK (CSDK12).
