Description

dl_express is an experimental, verticality-heavy, 2-lane 6v6 map.

IMPORTANT:
  • Once you are on the map, turn on sv_cheats. This avoids a hardcoded map problem where you are considered 'out of bounds' and get teleported when at the top of the map.
  • When you are done using the map, remove it before playing public games. Otherwise you may get dysyncs and crashes.
  • Due to limitations with navmeshes, bots do not function and mystic veils have unexpected collisions with ability projectiles.

dl_Express currently includes:
  • 2 Lanes, with 2 Guardians and 2 Walkers each.
  • Huge vertical differences across different areas of the map.
  • Mirrored down the East/West line, as opposed to the North-East/South-West mirroring of the standard map.
  • Large mystic veils and large glass materials.
  • A deadly ocean that isn't instant but do a lot of damage over time.
  • Wind tunnels and long vent jumps.
  • A fully custom baroness!
  • A custom script with a few balance changes. More info is in the readme.txt.

Hosting a private match with friends:
  1. Make sure everyone has the mod!
  2. From the lobby, open the console with f7 and type "map dl_express" and press enter.
  3. Once loaded, quickly select a team/hero and pause with 'P'.
  4. Type "sv_cheats true". Cheats should stay on, otherwise you may get weird teleporation!
  5. Type "status"
  6. On the third line, there should be something that looks like "[A:1:xxxxxxxxx:xxxxx]". Copy it to your clipboard.
  7. For other players to join, they need to type "connect [A:1:xxxxxxxxx:xxxxx]" into the console. They may get visual errors during the pause but they can select a hero/team.
  8. Once everyone is in, press 'P' to unpause.
  9. If players are frozen/still stuck in a paused menu, they might need to exit to lobby and rejoin.

Known Bugs:
  • The host needs to keep sv_cheats enabled to avoid teleportation.
  • Archmother troopers currently have trouble pathing to the amber shrines.
  • Archmother base guardians use the HiddenKing guardian models.
  • Small-Character tunnels don't have visible grates around combat.
  • Mystic veils have improper collision with hero projectiles.
  • All doorman doors float slightly from the surface they are placed on.
  • Troopers occasionally get stuck in some corners/overhangs.

Future Plans:
  • (Potentially) some sort of art-pass.
  • A new minimap.
  • More layout changes based on feedback.
  • Lighting and Optimization improvements
  • Fixes for current problems like needing sv_cheats and mystic veils.
  • Get bots to work and improve the navmesh.

"When will you make the map look better?"
  • Texturing and detailing the map is a massive undertaking that takes a long time and requires mapping skill in many different areas of knowledge. This is currently out of my skill-set, especially for a map of this scale. I would rather put this effort into making more mods, but an art pass isn't entirely out of the question.
