This mod turns Deadlock into a tighter, skill-first hero combat experience instead of using the item shop. Expect many character reworks and restored old abilities — like Dynamo's extra bullets — plus ability changes for Shiv and Yamato.

While I don't mind perks/items/shop in the game, I was hoping for a mode without them, and that's how this project was born. This mod's been in on-and-off development since the early 4-lane builds. I held off releasing it publicly, hoping Valve would eventually add an official mode — that never happened, so today I've decided to release it publicly.

Part 1 — Basic Mod Setup (skip if you've modded Deadlock before)

Open `Deadlock\game\citadel\gameinfo.gi` in a text editor. Find `SearchPaths`, and replace everything inside it with:

Part 2 — Bonus: Bypass the 6-Team Limit

Find `"cl_async_usercmd_send" "false"` and paste this below it:

This bypasses the 6-per-team limit. `citadel_trooper_squad_size` of 9 is recommended for this mod. If your PC can't handle that many troopers, drop `citadel_trooper_max_per_lane` from 40 to 25.

Part 3 — Starting a Map

1. Right-click Deadlock in your Steam library → Properties → Launch Options → add `-insecure`
2. Boot up Deadlock
3. Press F7 to open the console (can also be rebound)
4. Type `map dl_midtown` to start a custom game — you can't do this from the table, or it'll refuse to load

Part 4 — Bots

Part 5 -- Friends joining

Use console in game type "status" and copy SteamID [XXXXX:XXXX] and friends use "connect [XXXXX:XXXX]"
