Rem Naptime — Sound of Silence

Replaces Rem's Naptime ult sound with the whispered intro of Disturbed's cover of "The Sound of Silence". When you cast Naptime, you whisper "Hello darkness…" — and when your sleep cone lands, your victims hear "…my old friend."

How it plays

Moment What plays Heard by Cast button press "Hello darkness" (whispered, LOUD) Caster + nearby Wind-up + projectile travel Silence (channel + release sounds removed) — Sleep cone hits enemy "…my old friend" (whispered, LOUD) Caster + victims Total experience: ~5 seconds. One uninterrupted phrase delivered as a sleep curse. No overlap, no doubling — clean theatrical timing.

Installation

Easy way (Deadlock Mod Manager): Subscribe + click Install.

Manual install:

1. Download the ZIP
2. Extract  pak01_dir.vpk
3. Rename to the next free  pak##_dir.vpk  slot in  Steam\steamapps\common\Deadlock\game\citadel\addons\  (e.g.  pak14_dir.vpk )
4. Launch Deadlock

To uninstall: delete the  pak##_dir.vpk  you placed.

Compatibility

• Affects only Rem's Naptime ult — no other heroes/abilities touched
• No game balance impact — purely an audio swap
• Works alongside other audio/visual mods
• Conflicts with other mods that override Rem's sound files

Technical notes

Overrides 4 .vsnd_c sound files + 1 .vsndevts_c soundevent script:

sounds/abilities/familiar/familiar_naptime_cast_delay_01.vsnd_c → "Hello darkness" sounds/abilities/familiar/familiar_naptime_channel_01.vsnd_c → silent sounds/abilities/familiar/familiar_naptime_cast_01.vsnd_c → silent sounds/abilities/familiar/familiar_naptime_aoe_explode_01.vsnd_c → "my old friend" soundevents/hero/familiar.vsndevts_c → modified The soundevent override sets  play_from_listener_player = 0.0  and  mono_downmix_enabled = 1.0  on the 4 Naptime events to prevent Source 2's default 1st-person + 3rd-person spatial doubling that would otherwise make the loud audio sound like duplicated voices.

(Rem's internal codename in the Deadlock game files is  familiar .)

Audio: 44.1 kHz stereo MP3 (downmixed mono in-game), +15 dB boosted with peak limiter, compiled via Source 2 SDK (CSDK12).
